Northwest Glacier - a photo on Flickriver

Northwest Glacier

            One of the destinations on our 8 1/2 hour marine tour from Seward was Northwest Glacier. This is a tidewater glacier, that is, the glacier comes down to the water. When I shot this photo the boat was still quite a way from the glacier and the wind was ferociously blowing at us as we continued to approach. 

Northwest Glacier is one of many glaciers that flow from the Harding Ice Field, named after US President Harding who visited Seward during his presidency.
