Dooley Milky Way 1.5 - a photo on Flickriver

This is Rocky Valley Lutheran Church at Dooley, MT. I first did a series of photos for a star trail photograph. Then my plan was to take a milky way panorama with the church. When the star trail photos were finished, I noticed that there was some aurora activity. I got a little greedy and tried to get the aurora and milky way in the same photo.

I was going to use light panels to illuminate the church, but a sodium yard light a quarter mile away was bright enough to light up the church. The problem was that there was a slight rise between the church and the light so the foreground came out too dark. Should have used the light panels to light up the foreground.

I was also entertained by the deer, coyotes, fireflies, border patrol, and the skunk that ambled past me into the basement of the church.
