Rebirth of 537

            The Railroading Heritage of Midwest America held its annual "Walk Amongst Giants" fundraiser on June 29, 2024. The fundraiser allows visitors to go inside the former Rock Island steam shops in Silvis, IL to view the progress of restoration efforts on UP 3985 and UP 5511 (for a fee). 

As part of this year's tour, visitors were allowed to look inside the Organization's paint booth, which today houses B40-8W #537, a former Santa Fe Warbonnet donated by BNSF now stripped of its BNSF H2 colors, which RRHMA plans to fully restore back into Warbonnet colors.
