Anax ephippiger (Burmeister, 1839) - a photo on Flickriver

            En la charca natural que encontramos muy cerca de la chimenea de peñarroya, Cartagena, podemos encontrar durante los meses de septiembre, octubre hasta cuatro especies de la familia Aeshnidae, tres del género Anax, parthenope, imperator y ephippiger, y una del género Aeshna, Aeshna mixta. 

En la foto vemos un macho de Anax ephippiger fiel a su cita de octubre en este paraje. A veces esta especie se puede confundir con Anax parthenope pero ephippiger es algo más pequeña, con un color verde oliva en todo el cuerpo y la "silla de montar" azul solo aparece en la mitad dorsal del abdomen en el segmento S2.
