The Edge of Night - a photo on Flickriver

            This was rather a poke-and-hope attempt on my part,
as I knew it would be just a one-only shot.  We're doing a shoot in a forested area that starts in the late evening; now drawing to a close as it's nightfall, I decide to take out a strobe and place it slightly above the subject's head,  then angle it and position it at distance where I hoped to achieve light fall-off that would create a more dramatic facial-structure, while still managing to get some reflection from Corban's eye, without illuminating any of the surrounding tress so as to preserve the stark, black-of-night backdrop. Getting that edgy catch-light in her right eye was an added surprise, when I reviewed the image the following day.
