Berner Alpen - a photo on Flickriver

Berner Alpen

            Le Alpi Bernesi sono un gruppo montuoso che separa il Vallese dal cantone di Berna. Qui se ne vede una parte, fotografata sopra Lauchernalp, un alpeggio trasformato in stazione sciistica che si trova su un balcone alto sulla Lötschental, la più grande valle laterale del versante nord del Vallese. Il valico glaciale che si scorge nella foto è il Lötschenlücke (3.153 m), su cui è costruito il rifugio alpino della Hollandiahütte, e da cui scende sulla Lötschental il Langgletscher. La vetta che domina sulla destra il passo è il Sattelhorn (3.344 m), mentre ancora più a destra, dietro la cresta, svetta la cima dell'Aletschhorn (4.194 m), la seconda vetta per altezza di tutto il gruppo. 

The Bernese Alps are a mountain range that separates the Valais from the canton of Bern. Here you see a part of it, photographed above Lauchernalp, a pasture transformed into a ski resort located on a high balcony on the Lötschental, the largest side valley of the north side of the Valais. The glacial pass that can be seen in the photo is the Lötschenlücke (3,153 m), on which the Hollandiahütte Alpine refuge is built, and from which the Langgletscher descends on the Lötschental. The summit that dominates the step on the right is the Sattelhorn (3,744 m), while even more on the right, behind the ridge, the top of the Aletschhorn (4.194 m) stands out, the second peak for the height of the whole group.
