Peak 45053 at Shirley on 15 August 1978

            Split Box Peak 45053 heads an excursion returning from Stratford-upon-Avon to the north-east, seen approaching Shirley on 15 August 1978. . The DMU on the adjacent line is waiting to cross over and follow the excursion towards Birmingham. The semaphores went in 2010 along with the crossover which relocated to Whitlocks End. Diesel locomotive hauled trains have never been common on the Shakespeare Line which these days sees more steam trips to Stratford. Tree growth means the line cannot be seen here now.
