It’s Not Funny, Ed - a photo on Flickriver

            The spotted hyena is the largest of the hyena Family and has a big head, skinny legs, and a sloping back. Hyenas live and hunt in packs. They have an excellent sense of sight, smell, and hearing. They have strong front paws for holding down a carcass while they tear off the meat. As well, their jaws are so strong they can crush and chew up bone, and their teeth are able to cut hide and tendons; thus, they are able to eat all parts of their prey. Their stomach produces very acidic secretions that enable them to digest bones and their droppings may be white and crusty because of bone in them. Other indigestible items such as horns, hooves, and hair are regurgitated.

Contrary what The Lion King had you think, hyenas are actually a very intelligent species and just as fierce as the lions they served lesser to in the movie
