ANZAC Day - a photo on Flickriver

ANZAC Day

Today Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who died and served in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

ANZAC day makes me recall when I served in the Vietnam war some 50 years ago and brings back memories of that time. I took this image during that time when I was in Saigon while in the Army Signal Corps on National Service.
These little kids were sadly caught up in their war torn country and many of them did not have a home, this little guy cleaned and polished my boots and the boots of many of the service men on a regular basis to make some money. I often wonder what happened to these little kids as their future was very uncertain at that time.

This image is from a scanned 52 year old Kodachrome slide and has been processed in Affinity Photo Software.
