Bridging The Gap - Lake Viaduct. - a photo on Flickriver

            I rejoice in the recent reopening of the railway line between Exeter and Okehampton to regular passenger trains. This leaves a gap of about 23 miles in the former LSWR main line from London Waterloo to Plymouth. Much of the roadbed of the former railway has been made into a bike path so it is possible to travel LSWR from Waterloo to Plymouth bridging the missing link with a bicycle. Having stayed for a few nights in the Camping Coaches at Bere Ferrers, I'm Waterloo bound - I've reached Lake Viaduct near Sourton on my way to Okehampton to join a train which will convey me and my bicycle to Waterloo with one change at Exeter. My small Dawes Kingpin bicycle is dwarfed by the double track railway roadbed and the Dartmoor scenery. The bike path over this section in called the "Granite Way".
