L' Arcangelo  Michele nella tradizione cristiana è colui che combatte e sconfigge l'angelo ribelle  (Apocalisse XII, :... Scoppiò una guerra in Cielo : Michele e i suoi Angeli combattevano contro il drago... Il serpente antico che seduce tutta la terra... Fu precipitato sulla terra e con lui tutti i suoi angeli...) . È citato anche in Zc 13, 1 e in Gd, 9.
Il nome Michele significa : Chi è come Dio?, è il difensore del popolo di Dio nella lotta del Bene contro il Male. 
Gabriele è l'Angelo dell'Annunciazione (Lc 1, 26) e che rivela a Daniele i piani di Dio (Dn 8, 16.  21).. Il suo nome significa : Forza di Dio o Uomo forte di Dio.
Raffaele è l'angelo che accompagna Tobia nelle peripezie del suo viaggio e gli guarisce il padre cieco. Il nome significa : medicina di Dio o Dio guarisce
Il nome Mika il è citato nel Corano, di pari rango rispetto a Jibril, Gabriele, e avrebbe provveduto a istruire il profeta Maometto..
