Vestrahorn overcast day - a photo on Flickriver

            When I was making plans for my first Iceland photography trip, Vestrahorn is probably the top two places on my list because I think it is just so majestic and grand, and photograph looks other-worldy in almost any condition. Photography-wise, this is a great place to explore because you can find a lot of interesting foreground element to make your image stand out.

For my trip itinerary, I had a sunset and sunrise to explore this area, and unfortunately the weather was not good. The first day was raining and foggy and I could barely even see the mountains, and the second morning weather became slightly better and I had some visibility to this wonder. I tried different compositions here. The most obvious one was to use the weed on the black beach as foreground, but that didn't work out because there were so many footprint on the beach at this time of the year, and after some more time walking around, I found some interesting sea stack on the beach, and the water movement would really be nice under a long exposure. After several test shots, I finally managed to capture a good-looking silky water movement.
