On top of Bláhnjúkur - a photo on Flickriver

            Early September this year (2019), my friend and I had two nights camping in Landmannalaugar, Iceland, and on day 2 we planned to do a hike there because that's what this place is famous for -- hiking among the rainbow maintains. We started our hike in the early morning, and planned to hike up to the top of Bláhnjúkur mountain. However, we didn't make it to the top because of trail was way too steep and slippery with the early morning frost. We headed back to camp and planned to try again in the afternoon when the frost should melt, and we also decided to try the trail from the other side of the loop. This time, it was walkable, but still the trail was very steep and hard to walk (a lot of loose rocks and not many switchbacks, some parts of the trails are over 60 degrees on the ridge line).  We made it to the top about 20 mins before sunset and stayed for about 30 mins. I took a bunch of photos, and I like this one the best because as the ambient light started to fade, the colors on the mountains popped more.
