Happy Earth Day 2023

            I feel pretty fortunate to get out into the natural world as much as possible and enjoy the simple, yet complex world it has to offer. Today, we are reminded to take care of and look after mother earth and her inhabitants.
  This Bobolink is just a very small piece of a much larger puzzle that makes our planet an oasis in the galaxy. Lets please help to take care of what we have, because there really is no other place to go. 
I captured this beautiful bird a few years ago just after it found a caterpillar for lunch. When the Bobolink landed in front of me, it was nothing less than a privilege to see this handsome male up close. 
  The Bobolink is common in meadows in the summertime, and they winter in South America. Unfortunately, they like to nest in hayfields and  many nests are destroyed by mowing. The Bobolinks that nest in meadows are spared this awefull demise.
