"Tauben" - "Gapes"

            My wife Lihua is looking forward to the gape harvest season, when the winegrowers sell kilos of gapes cheaply;-)

For Chinese, the R is not really a problem, they pronounce it like native English speakers. However, in Chinese, the R does not occur after consonants like T or G. Therefore, Chinese like to omit it in such cases. When I remind my wife however that "Tauben" are "pigeons" and she should not leave out the R, she pronounces the word very intelligibly, but in a similarly outlandish way that native English speakers would. Why these are not said to have a problem with the German R, but the Chinese very much are, is not really fair.
