U4 Ukange (57)

            Symbole fort du patrimoine industriel de la vallée de la Fensch, le haut-fourneau U4 est le dernier des six hauts-fourneaux de l’usine d’Uckange. Témoin du formidable essor économique de toute la région dans les années 1960-1980, ce « monstre de fer » s’est éteint en 1991 pour revenir à la vie et s’ouvrir au public en 2007, après deux années de travaux. Il est l’un des rares témoignages de la sidérurgie du XXe siècle aujourd’hui conservé en France.

Strong symbol of the industrial heritage of the Fensch Valley, the U4's Haut-Fourneau is the last of the six blast furnaces of the Uckange factory. Witness of the formidable economic boom in the whole region in the years 1960-1980, this "iron monster" died in 1991 to return to life and open to the public in 2007, after two years of work. He is one of the few testimonies of the twentieth century steel industry now preserved in France.
