Église Saint-Martin-de-Wimy: le portail entre les antiques tours I

            Le Thiérache fut une région de guerre qui imposa de fortes contraintes sécuritaires aux populations locales. La proximité de la frontière fit de cette région une zone très exposée aux invasions et aux exactions des mercenaires. Ainsi il fut nécessaire d'adapter notamment l'architecture des églises. Bien sûr peux d'églises gardèrent le même visage après tant d'histoires. Pour la plupart d'entre elles, le bâtiment fut modifié au XIXème siècle.

À Wimmy, l'église Saint-Martin a connu des modifications au XIXème siècle. Ainsi, au le donjon carré avec ses deux tours rondes d'angles s'est ajouté un nouveau portail de style néo-gothique.
