Spiraling the shadows - a photo on Flickriver

            Fort Trumbull New London, CT - Completed in 1777 on the Western bank of the Thames river, to protect the government seat of Connecticut.  in 1781 under attack by British forces under the command of the turn coat trader Benedict Arnold, the lightly manned fort was easily over run by the British forces.  When the Colonist surrender to the British they all were massacred by the sword of the surrendered Captain.  This act ignited a fire across the New England Patriots and Conntinental Army that leed to the American Colonists to change their fighting tactics to Guerrilla warfare which two years later eventually led to Americas independence.
