Les Terres Rouges du Salagou ... - a photo on Flickriver

Le lac du Salagou évoquera sans doute aux voyageurs quelque destination exotique, comme le Sud de la Grande Terre, en Nouvelle Calédonie : on y trouve en effet, dans la terre (appelée ruffe), les mêmes grès riches en oxydes de métaux.
A l'origine du lac, il y a un barrage destiné à écrêter les crues de la coléreuse rivière Salagou, et irriguer les terres agricoles.
Une erreur de calcul des ingénieurs hydrauliciens à miraculeusement épargné le petit village de Celles d'une submersion programmée. Les murs sont restés, mais les habitants en sont partis, abandonnant aux fantômes les ruelles fermées de grillages.
