An elephant groans in danger. In such moments, a different, often female elephant usually comes and tries to soothe the conspecifics, touch him, or even put the trunks in his mouth - an equivalent to the human handshake.

Behavioral researchers vouch for the high intelligence of the elephants, their sociable nature, their fun at the game and their amazing family spirit. Legendary is the gentle mind of the elephants, literally their enormous memory.
