Saru no Kokoro (back) - a photo on Flickriver

            Saru no Kokoro (meaning Heart of the Monkey in Japanese) became a masterless samurai, a ronin, after his lord was brutally slain in the Battle of Wakae. He wandered the land, but stumbled upon a cave, and further exploration showed there was a jade monkey statue in it. When Saru touched the statue, the Spirit of the Monkey was transferred into his body, and Saru was changed into a human-monkey being. The Spirit  told him that the same one who killed his lord was the one who planned to destroy the island of Nihon (Japan), and instructed Saru to seek out the one with the Spirit of the Ram. Saru no Kokoro's journey has begun...
