            View from Modersohn Bridge to Warschauer Strasse station. Many lines run parallel here, so it's not surprising to see three trains at the same time.
On the right you can see a maintenance facility for long-distance trains, where a former Metropolitan train is standing. These trains were originally built in the late 1990s for the premium passenger service between Hamburg and Cologne. This service ended in 2004 and the trains were used for regular ICE service. I know these trains from that time, when I was able to use them for many years. It was a real pleasure to travel in them, the seats were covered with leather and the entire interior was made of wood and brushed steel. But there were also many passengers who complained that these were not "real" ICE trains and that they missed the "real" (plastic) interiors.
Finally, these services were discontinued in 2021. In the meantime, the trains have been scrapped.
