Once upon a time... - a photo on Flickriver

.....on holiday in Bath, we made a visit to Lacock Abbey. There I found an opportunity to dress up so put on the clothes of a Cistercian nun to take a selfie, or probably to ask Ray to take it.

Selfies were quite a novelty at the time.

Suddenly, I heard a voice asking if it could 'borrow me' and turned to find a photographer with what I then considered to be a sophisticated camera. A short hesitation on my part and a reply in the affirmative, on the condition that he would send me a copy. Which he did.

Not being religious, and no offence, I think, however, that the orderly life of a nun might have suited me. And plenty of bedtime reading material in the library.

Often in plays at infants and junior school, (Virgin Mary, the fishmonger's wife, the gypsy wife - I remember my beautiful outfit - a long dress in striped red sateen material and a sort of 'cardie' in black with sequins) - all that changed when I started secondary school. The reason escapes me.

A conversation yesterday with a friend somehow triggered this memory so here I am posting/posted for Selfie Sunday and Sliders Sunday today.
