Forsythia DSC_9412 - a photo on Flickriver

Forsythia DSC_9412

            Forsythia always seems to be one of the first garden shrubs to flower in spring, but they are pretty common and I felt there would be no point taking a straightforward image of the yellow flowers. 

For this composition, I've focussed on some of the fresh green leaves and turned the flowers to triangular bokeh with a modified Pentacon Electric 1.8/50 multicoated lens. This glass very similar to my MOG Oreston lens, but the aperture blades are curved. Taken at an indicated f/4. 

In PP, I have cropped down to 5x4 and increased the lighting gradient (L-R) to give the impression of the leaves responding to the light.
