To the south west of Sydney, a river called the Nepean flows south to north. Around about 55km west north west of the Sydney CBD, the Nepean joins the Grose River which runs west to east from the Blue Mountains. Together the rivers become the Hawkesbury River, which meanders north for a while before making a turn to the east and emptying itself into the Pacific Ocean. This marks the demarcation between Sydney, and the Central Coast region.

The red line roughly tracks the flow of the river from its origin to the flow to the ocean.

I spent a couple of days up in that region with a friend in the winter of 2006. So, considering that I'm writing this in 2025... a while back. Our base was the (then) Sebel Resort and Spa in Windsor NSW (now the Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley) which can be seen marked on the map and will be seen in some of the photos in this gallery.

We also spent some time in the Cattai National Park, which contains the remnants of some former farms. This too is marked on the map.

The third place that is marked on the map, the Tizzana Winery, I would go to many years later (in 2014) with someone else. Those photos, I have yet to process at the time of writing.
