Little House on the Bridge, Ambleside, Cumbria - 1963

            Bridge House, Ambleside.

Built on a packhorse style bridge over Stock Ghyll in the seventeenth century, this minute cottage has been a tourist attraction in the center of Ambleside since Wordsworth's time. Beatrix Potter and her husband William Heelis were two of a group of Ambleside local people responsible for saving this icon from destruction in the 1920's and handing it to the care of the newly formed National Trust.

The walls and buildings in this scene are all constructed from locally quarried green slate.
