My stay in Touraine ends with the visit of two villages victims of Nazi barbarism during the Second World War: Maille and Oradour-sur-Glane.

Maillé is a small town in the south of Touraine where 124 inhabitants aged 3 months to 89 years were massacred and burned in their homes by a troop of SS on August 25, 1944.
The village will be built again and be sponsored by a generous American couple who will provide the inhabitants with furniture and clothes.
All my photos (even those of period) have been taken in“La Maison du Souvenir de Maillé” (“The House of Memory of Maillé”). It’s a place of memory made up documents of archives and iconographies, objects found in the ruins or preserved by the families and testimonies filmed.
I thank the "Maison du Souvenir de Maillé » for allowing me to take these pictures in their museum.
