Barbarossa tower in Gruissan - a photo on Flickriver

            The Barbarossa tower is all that remains of a castle built on a rocky hill and steep at the end of the tenth century, to observe the surroundings of the port of Narbonne and protect the city against the raids of pirates Saracens.
Today, the village of Gruissan, built in circulade, surrounds the ruins of the castle. The site of the tower offers a rather spectacular panorama, from where one can admire the whole village as well as the coast, the pond, the salt marshes and the port of Gruissan.
