Chanteurs de rue

            Jaisalmer (Inde) - En Inde, il y a de nombreux artistes de rue : musiciens, chanteurs, acrobates, jongleurs, avaleurs de sabres…  Les montreurs d’animaux sont désormais interdits. Majoritairement originaires du Rajasthan, ils se produisent dans toute l’Inde, cheminant de ville en ville. Au fil de mes voyages, j’ai vite réalisé que ces artistes se produisent toujours en famille. La photo de ces chanteurs de rue en est l’illustration.
La photo a été prise en dehors de Jaisalmer alors que je cherchais un point de vue panoramique pour photographier la forteresse de loin, à la nuit tombée. 
Bien avant que les derniers rayons de soleil ne disparaissent, les deux artistes, père et fils, sont arrivés, se sont installés sur le sol et se sont mis à chanter. L’enfant avait une voix très aiguë. Une voix à la fréquence élevée que les Indiens affectionnent chez les femmes et les jeunes enfants. Les comédies musicales de Bollywood en usent et en abusent.
Le père joue d’un « piano-accordéon », instrument typiquement indien. Il est à noter que l’enfant tient dans ses mains des plaques taillées dans de l’os qu’il fait claquer habillement, en mesure, dans ses mains, telles des castagnettes.


Street performers

Jaisalmer (India) - In India, there are many street artists: musicians, singers, acrobats, jugglers, sword swallowers... Mainly from Rajasthan, they perform all over India, traveling from town to town. During my travels, I quickly realized that these artists always perform with their families. The photo of these street singers illustrates this.
The photo was taken outside of Jaisalmer as I was looking for a scenic vantage point to photograph the fortress from afar after dark.
Long before the last rays of sunshine disappeared, these two artists, father and son, arrived, settled on the floor and broke into song. The child had a very high-pitched voice. A voice with a high frequency that the Indians like in women and young children. Bollywood musicals use and abuse it.
The father plays a “piano-accordion”, a typically Indian instrument. It should be noted that the child holds in his hands rectangles cut from bones which he clacks skilfully, in time, in his hands, like castanets.
