Painted bunting - a photo on Flickriver

Painted bunting

            This is a portrait shot of a male painted bunting, undoubtedly one of the prettiest birds around. They are extremely skittish , so it is always a challenge to photograph them . Also, they like to stay inside shrubs and bushes and they love to forage on the ground in the mornings. Hence, light is almost always an issue while photographing these beautiful birds. On this occasion though, he chose a very nice perch with perfect ambient light and stayed there for a few seconds - which allowed me to take a few snaps , then he moved on. It is always a remarkable experience observing painted buntings . They represent nature in the most ideal way - vibrant , colorful and extremely beautiful.
