455 and 484 below Lobato - a photo on Flickriver

            Getting into the climb up to Cumbres Pass, engines 455 and 484 team up to move a long, eleven car train up to the summit. Moving up the Wolf Creek valley, the engines have the steeper part of the climb ahead of them.  The fireman on the 484 is shoveling coal into the firebox to power up for the climb, and the crew of the 455 know they have to stop to cross the Lobato trestle. The 455 will cross the trestle first, then the 484 with train will cross over before coupling back up on the other side.  I think this is my favorite shot of the entire trip. the Vesuvian eruption from the 484, the open shadows and the colors of the changing vegetation make it work for me.   RGS 455 is disguised C&TS mudhen 463.
