2015 BMW 220i Gran Tourer (F46) - Front 3/4 View - 2023-07-18_04-56-06

            A somewhat controversial car amongst BMW purists, and an oddity in their lineup.

This is the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.  It's named as though it is part of their 2 Series lineup - though the other entries in the 2 Series are small coupé or covertible models, and are based on a different platform.  And, the other 2 Series models are either rear-wheel drive, or are four-wheel drive.

The Gran Tourer model is based on the BMW UKL2 platform, which means its more closely-related to the Mini Countryman than it is to the F22/F23/F87 models in the 2 Series.  And it's front-wheel drive, which many BMW fans feel goes against the "Ultimate Driving Machine" ethos (though an all-wheel drive (xDrive) version is also available).

The 2 Series Gran Tourer is a three-row compact MPV, while the other 2 Series models are sport compacts.

The motoring press seem to be impressed by it, though (it reviewed very well), as are the buying public - they're a popular model in the MPV market.
