            Repubblica Unita di Tanzania.
L'area continentale dello stato fu colonia dell'Impero tedesco a partire dal 1885 con il nome di Africa Orientale tedesca (Deutsch-Ostafrika).
Fu poi occupata dal Regno Unito durante la prima guerra mondiale e integrato nell'Impero britannico prima come mandato della Società delle Nazioni (dal 1922 al 1946) e poi come amministrazione fiduciaria delle Nazioni Unite (dal 1946 al 1961) con il nome di Territorio del Tanganica (Tanganika Territory).
Il paese ottenne poi l'indipendenza il 9 dicembre 1961 come Reame del Commonwealth, trasformandosi in repubblica l'anno successivo.
Lo stato nacque il 26 aprile 1964 dall'unione tra la Repubblica di Tanganica e la neonata Repubblica Popolare di Zanzibar con la denominazione di Repubblica Unita di Tanganica e Zanzibar, nome che venne cambiato nell'ottobre dello stesso anno in Repubblica Unita di Tanzania (TANganika + ZANzibar).

The mainland area of the state was a colony of the German Empire from 1885 under the name of German East Africa (Deutsch-Ostafrika).
It was then occupied by the United Kingdom during the First World War and integrated into the British Empire first as a mandate of the League of Nations (from 1922 to 1946) and then as a trusteeship of the United Nations (from 1946 to 1961) under the name of the Territory of Tanganyika (Tanganika Territory).
The country then gained independence on 9 December 1961 as a Commonwealth Realm, becoming a republic the following year.
The state was born on 26 April 1964 from the union between the Republic of Tanganyika and the newly formed People's Republic of Zanzibar under the name of the United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, a name that was changed in October of the same year to the United Republic of Tanzania (TANganika + ZANzibar).
