Pulicaria dysenterica (L.) Gaertn. - Heelblaadjes.

            Deze soort heeft een horizontale, vertakte wortelstok, waaruit een rechtopstaande of aan de voet opstijgende, naar boven wollig-viltige en daar ook vertakte stengel komt, met schuin uitstaande takken. De bladen zijn lancetvormig, spits, bijna gaafrandig, hartvormig stengelomvattend. Zij zijn van boven groen, kort behaard, van onder dun grijsviltig, zacht, gegolfd, de bovenste zijn bijna pijlvormig.
De hoofdjesdragende takken verheffen zich boven de stengel, de hoofdjesdragende zijtakken evenzeer weer boven de hoofdtakken, daardoor ontstaat een los scherm-pluimvormig geheel van hoofdjes. Zij zijn vrij groot (tot 2 cm middellijn), kort gesteeld. De omwindselbladen liggen dakpansgewijze, zijn borstelvormig, zachtharig, de buitenste zijn teruggekromd.
De straalbloemen hebben een uitgespreid, 3-tandig lint, dat ver buiten het omwindsel uitsteekt en zijn vrouwelijk. De schijfbloemen hebben een buisvormige, 5-spletige bloemkroon, zijn geel en tweeslachtig. De helmknopjes eindigen ieder van onder in 2 vertakte borstelharen. Soms is het merendeel van de bloemen lintvormig. De vruchten zijn behaard en dragen een haarkroon, die uit enkelvoudige haren bestaat en bovendien een iets getand kroontje. 6-9 dm. Overblijvend. Einde Juli-september.
De plant lijkt op Inula britannica , doch is er door de kleinere hoofdjes en de kortere straalbloemen van te onderscheiden.
Voorkomen in Europa en in Nederland
De plant komt aan wegen, slootkanten en op vochtige plaatsen in bijna geheel Europa voor en is bij ons vrij algemeen. Vooral komt zij vrij veel in de duinen voor.
Volksnamen
In West-Friesland heet de plant heelblaadjes, op Texel wilde goukes, op Voorne en Beierland gouden cent en op Zuid-Beveland stinkerds.
Pulicaria = van pulex: vloo, om het gebruik van P. vulgaris, om vlooien te verdrijven. Het tegenwoordig in gebruik zijnd insectenpoeder bestaat uit tot poeder gemaakte bloemhoofdjes van verwante Compositae.
