My Friends and Shipmates, Dutch Harbor, Alaska, August 1984

            One of my personal favorites!  A photograph that has sat on my desk over all the years.

It's August 1984 (exact date approximate) and we are embarked in our destroyer, HMCS Mackenzie DDE-261.  We are in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, for refuelling; we had departed our base in Esquimalt, BC, on our way to Yokosuka, Japan.  It was appreciated that we were able to get ashore for a couple of hours.  We even had time to watch a few innings at a local baseball game.

In the photograph, HMCS Mackenzie is at the jetty and, I am the third from the left.  All of them, good friends and shipmates!

The photograph was taken on Kodak Ektachrome and scanned by an Epson V550.
