The Disused High Street Signal Box, Lincoln

            This signal box, built in 1874 for the Great Northern Railway in Lincoln is called the High Street box and is at the west end of the station. Due to the road crossing being so busy, a bit was added in 1925 to the box, to give the signal man a better view of the road. It still is very busy!
 
The box closed when Lincoln station had a major resignalling and a new track layout scheme during the years 2007 to 2008. The box was replaced by a new state of the art signalling centre near to the West Holmes box. This High street signal box is a listed building so was not pulled down but it is now looking in a bit of a poor state in 2023, with its widows boarded over. It still has its name boards.
