Vogelperspektive / Birds eye view - a photo on Flickriver

            Dieser Silberreiher ist auf der Suche nach Mäusen, Fröschen, Maulwürfen und was sonst noch in einer Wiese zu finden ist. Die leckeren Kleinen sind aber hinter den Halmen nur schwer zu sehen wenn man von der Seite schaut. Der Reiher streckt deshalb seinen langen Hals so weit hoch und vor, dass er quasi von oben in einem sehr steilen Winkel hinunterschauen kann und verbessert so seine Chancen eine Mahlzeit zu erspähen beträchtlich. In dieser Haltung bewegt er sich ohne hektische Bewegung oder Geräusche durch das Gras und ist nach meiner Beobachtung dadurch bei seiner Jagd ziemlich erfolgreich.
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren. 

This great egret is looking for mice, frogs, moles and whatever else can be found in a meadow. But the delicious little ones are difficult to spot behind the stalks if you look from the side. The heron therefore stretches its long neck so far up and out that it can look down from above at a very steep angle, thus considerably improving its chances of catching a meal. In this stance it moves through the grass without hectic movement or noise and from my observation is quite successful at hunting.
