Eisvogel / Kingfisher - a photo on Flickriver

            Eisvögel sind schwer zu fotografieren. Meist dauert es eine Weile, bis man einen sieht, denn er meidet Menschen und haut schnell ab, wenn er eine verdächtige Bewegung wahrnimmt. Schnurgerade und mit hoher Geschwindigkeit saust er davon oder an einem vorbei. 
Eisvögel sind leicht zu fotografieren. Wenn man seinen Eisvogel erst einmal kennengelernt hat, dann stellt man fest, dass er der geborene Poser ist. Ich habe noch keinen anderen Vogel gefunden, der so lange an einer Stelle sitzt und dabei so viele verschiedene Positionen einnimmt wie den Eisvogel. Er friert im Sekundentakt in einer Pose ein und lässt sich selbst mit langsamen Verschlusszeiten schön ablichten, schon verändert er seine Pose wieder. 
Tech. Detail: Steht eigentlich alles in den EXIF Daten, die ich für euch hier immer mit einstelle. Ansonsten ist der Knackpunkt den Eisvogel nicht im direkten seitlichen Sonnenlicht zu fotografieren weil der Dynamikumfang von den weißen Federn zu den Schattenpartien i.d.R. viel zu groß für den Kamerasensor ist. Zumindest für meine Kameras, bei neueren Apparaten kann das anders sein.
Um die vielen Farbschattierungen des Eisvogels besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen euch viele Details verloren. 

Kingfisher are difficult to photograph. Most of the time it takes a while till you see one because it avoids humans and disappears quickly if it sees a suspicious movement. Fast and in a straight line if flies away from you. 
Kingfisher are easy to photograph. Once you know your Kingfisher you realise that it is a natural poser. I did not find any other bird yet that does sit in one place with such a variety of postures for a lengthy time as the Kingfisher does. It sort of freezes in one posture for the fraction of a second that is usually long enough that you can take a picture with a pretty low shutterspeed. 
Tech. Detail: You can find the details in the EXIF data which I always upload so that you can use it. In most cases it is crucial to not take photographs of Kingfishers in direct sunlight coming from the side as the dynamic range of the camera sensor can not cope with the range between the brightest (white) feather details and the shadow areas. At least with my cameras this is a no go. Your mileage may vary should you use a more recent sensor.
