            Um bei der Landung auf dem Wasser nicht der Länge nach hinzuplatschen muß die Geschwindigkeit kontrolliert abgebaut werden. Die meisten Wasservögel tun dies, indem sie ihre Füße wie Wasserski einsetzen und mit den Flügeln gleichzeitig balancieren und bremsen. Meistens funktioniert es ;-)

In order to avoid splashing down lengthwise when landing on water, speed must be reduced in a controlled manner. Most water birds do this by using their feet like water skis and simultaneously balancing and braking with their wings. It works most of the time... ;-)
