We went to the Port Arthur Mardi Gras Saturday night - for the first time ever. Lots and lots of parade floats, and beads and lights and "fair food".. But the prettiest thing I saw all night was this little cutie, all bundled up against the cold wind.. Apparently her Mardi Gras spirit got the better of her, because I was able to talk her into coming home with me. They don't call me Mr. Lucky for nuthin'!

I'm a people watcher from way back. There's nothing I like better than watching the souls we share this earth with go about their business. All shapes and sizes. And I ain't gonna lie - I don't mind watching pretty young things wander by. I appreciate them for what they are to me at this stage of my life - pretty young things - no different than a beautiful sunset or the curl of an ocean wave - and just as untouchable.

As a young man, you tend to think about the ladies in terms of what she would be like as a lover - striking up a conversation with a final outcome in mind. As an 'adult', I am more interested in the conversation than the outcome. In the journey rather than the destination. Simply admiring the view for what it is. Especially since I've got the traveling partner I want right here with me. Just because I get weak-kneed at the sweep of a fender on a Lamborghini doesn't mean I want one in my garage, if ya know what I mean.

That said, when I think of people-watching music, this song comes to mind when I see one of those girls that knows she's looking good - if only because it reminds me of the days when I was filled with the searching and the yearning - before I got truly lucky, and realized that I was..
