makes you wonder, doesn't it? - a photo on Flickriver

            ..Wonder if they ever decorated the pyramids in Egypt with lights at night? They say the pyramids we see today are really just the skeletal remains. The rough limestone blocks were originally sheathed in polished white stone, creating sides that were nearly as smooth as these glass pyramids at Moody Gardens. And the capstone may have been gilded with gold. Imagine what that looked like shining in the sun.. Or in the night!

Somehow I imagine that at some point, some pharohs' wife told him she thought it would be nice to "put up a few lights like the ones the Summarians do every year.." The Pharoh would grumble and complain as he directed thousands of workers to light up the pyramids - maybe much like these.. 

This 24 hour world that we live in today is new they say - but I wonder if that's true. We've had fire for a long time now, and I find it hard to believe that no one capitolized on the chance to illuminate structures that were built to impress.
