Well, Five Wells Lane, Helston, Cornwall 24 September 2023

            In the days before Disraeli's Public Health Act of 1875 compelled councils to create clean drinking water and sewage facilities, the people of Helston came to this well for their household water. They also washed their clothes and sometimes themselves, here.

The faded inscription reads "Thomas Cock, Mayor, 1703".
