Hama beads: these are a form of children's creative play. They are small plastic tubes that are used to create designs, using heat to melt the plastic, which allows the beads to join and solidify. The above shows the reverse of the creation where the circular tubes are still evidence. 

This was a random creation by my then 6 or 7 year old son. It hangs in my window where the light causes it to glow.  

The complete piece of plastic "artwork" is less than 3 inches across. This probably represents about 2 inches in diameter.]
