Sinewave City 001

            Welcome to Sinewave City. 
In the year 3535, mankind has forgotten the importance of nature through its own hubris. Technology dictates every citizens life, from the built in microchip that recommends them Spotify playlists, to the thought recognition technology that earns ad-revenue from their dreams.
A team of world-class scientists have found the last remaining plant life on earth, and are safeguarding it with billions of dollars worth of BuckySphere Automated Security Systems (BASS). However, power hungry executives in their obsidian towers have other things in mind.
I started this last April. In all my years of designing LEGO models, i had never made a city. Mostly because i never got any of the minifigure scale trains growing up, and i've never had larger than the top of a chest of drawers to display anything. So making the right size base was challenging. 
What was even more challenging: designing a monorail system completely unconventional by LEGO standards. Instead of a motor in the train, it's a chain just like a bike chain powered by a single drive wheel at the back. The carriages are attached to the chain to give it the illusion that it is moving by itself.
I had to re-design the track and drive system about five times to get it to work. Was determined not to give up and was so pleased with the result. There's also a crane arm which can be used to load and unload barrels onto a cargo train.

I've always loved the worlds of Blade Runner, Metroid and various other Cyberpunk media (i've not played 2077 sadly) and really wanted to tell a story through this idea.

It's only halfway complete. The people you see in the train, I want to create smaller scenes easy to see in person at events using those micro-people to help me tell my story. 

I'll be writing a nice blog somewhere all about the process and more details on the design, but for now, i hope you enjoy!!
