Curlew has taken up residence in a shopping center carpark

            Burhinus grallarius - Bush Stone Curlew.
 Its favoured habitat is open plains and woodlands, where it stalks slowly at night in search of invertebrates such as insects. Here is anything but open plains and its camouflage not effective.  Curlews normally rely on the camouflage of its plumage to evade detection during the day, but here it was plain to see in an extensive carpark - not that many noticed the bird for they were not expecting to see one standing or sitting here, highlighted by yellow traffic markings and red woods chips!. 
Both sexes care for two eggs laid on the bare ground - but which piece of open ground will this one find?
