1934 Austin Seven “GL 1315”

            A 90-year-old Austin Seven 2-door, 4-passenger “Box Saloon” of 1934 visits the cobbled high street of Kirkbymoorside, Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K. Complete w/ vintage AA badge + five-character black plate Bath-area registration “GL 1315”. Probably an older restoration, this car was remarkably clean, and in very smooth running + driving condition for a vehicle so old. The tax disc in the window had a an old ‘War Service’ paper disc, with a date of 1944 (not sure if it was authentic or a replica disc, but it did look of-the-period). I saw this car filling up at the local Jet down the street roughly 10 minutes after this photo was taken. The elderly gentleman owner smiled on reflection that someone immediately recognised what it was.

Interestingly, about an hour before encountering this Seven, I was passing through a backstreet of the neighbouring town of Pickering (roughly 10-15 minutes west of “Kirkby”) and noticed another little Seven saloon - a dusty red/black 1938 model, registration “XG 2759” which looked like a genuine barn find. A man and woman had recently acquired it and I briefly stopped and gave a hand pushing the car off the road and into their garden. I took a couple of candid shots of said car, but the pictures did not turn out good enough to display on here.
