Jorvik Tour Bus ‘Sans Pareil’ LK08 NVF

            Looks like the case of the mystery open topper is solved. After well over a few years, Hull has seen a new independent operator enter the fray, filling the gap in the market of open top sightseeing bus services you never knew Hull had. The bus is registered to a Jorvik Tour Bus Ltd, who proudly proclaim they have been first established in 1984... a strange name for a company registered in Withernsea, if I might add. Today must be it’s first day in service, if I’m right, and since there is absolutely no publicity about this beside a walk-up sandwich board on Paragon Square, I guess I must do the publicity.

Jorvik Tours Bus' 'City Tour' runs on an hourly basis out of the Cenotaph bus stop on Ferensway - the former site of the Hull Explorer - and runs down Carr Lane past Hull City Hall. From there, it goes on down to drive past Hull Minster, where I first saw it pass by, and consulting my photo of the sandwich board for information, it runs on through the Old Town past the old shipyards and such up High Street before finally ending up at The Deep, which I believe might be it's outbound terminus. This marks the first operation of an open-topper route in Hull since the quiet withdrawal of the 'Hull Explorer' in late 2018, and I have to say this has come back in a strange way. Even more strange is the bus itself they have used, previously running around with no fleetnames for the past few weeks and now bearing the catchphrase of Paul Chuckle on the front and a paraphrasing of the chorus of Chumbawumba's 'Tubthumping' on the rear. I am not kidding on that last one.

Seen here mysteriously having entered service all of a sudden, Jorvik Tour Bus Ltd's LK08 NVF, a 2008 ADL Enviro 400 going by the name of 'Sans Pareil' ("unmatched" in French, apparently, and the name of a very old train), which was new to Metroline as their TE891 before seeing further service with Stagecoach Midlands over in Northampton in ex-London configuration as their 80072, departs on another sightseeing run from The Deep's car park. All things considered, cheers to the driver for the wave.
