Dancing Ferns - a photo on Flickriver

Dancing Ferns

            I fell in love with these trees. Don't they look like when no one else is around they actually dance? (That's a variation on the philosophical dilemma: If no person is around does a falling tree make a sound?).

It's amazing to think that these great fern trees (Dicksonia antarctica) are the direct descendants of their ancestors in the Gondwanan forests at least 550 million years ago. If I tell you that these trees themselves are probably 250 years old, does that make you respect them all the more? It should.
