The Blue-headed Macaw is yet another less common clay lick (or as they are locally known - collpa) visitor.

Of the 6 macaw species (3 large and 3 small) you might typically see in the rainforest of Tambopata, they are the least common, especially in the forest. 

You actually have a better luck seeing them in the disturbed and more open areas around settlements. 

As such the clay lick on the outskirts of the city of Puerto Maldonado is a good way of increasing your chances to see and photograph them on your Untamed Peruvian Amazon Expedition!
