            Photograph showing men of the 372th RI in front of their cantonment, taken in either the village of 'Friesen' or 'Largitzen', within the Vosges sector, dated 25th of February, 1915.
On the back is written:

"25-02-1915
Dear Antonia,
Despite the bad seasons I am still in good health, I like to believe that it is the same for you. I am sending you a little souvenir of the war in Alsace. I am photographed with one of my friends, in front of our cantonment. I embrace you tenderly.

Fortunately, Michel lived to see the end of the war.

From December 1914 till October 1915 the 372th RI would be in the Vosges sector. Around the time of this photograph the regiment would be stationed in the Bois d'Hirtzbach sector between the villages of Hirtzbach and Carspach. Together with the 57th DI (Division) the 372th RI would see combat during the German attacks around Ammerzwiller in December, January and April.
